Bloomtown Houston

The fourth largest city in the U.S. with a population of 5.2 million people is the place to be.  This city has been ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the top ten cities to live in the U.S. for its affordability and competitive salaries.  It has edged upward in average homes sales price ($226,072) while the rest of the country suffers from some of the most troubling years in real estate history.  The resilience of such a wonderfully diverse city can be attributed to our strong energy business, our ever-growing Medical Center, the Port of Houston, NASA, the petrochemical industry and an exceptional entrepreneurial environment/infrastructure. 

The options for living include rental of apartments and single family homes.  Options to buy vary from high rise condos in the heart of the city to bungalows tucked in right outside of downtown and larger homes for less in the suburbs of Houston. 

The prices for leasing apartments and houses depend on the area of town.  Prices for an apartment inside the 610 loop tend to lease for over a dollar per square foot, and single family homes in the suburbs can lease for fifty cents per square foot.   

The typical lease term for privately owned rentals is 12 months, and apartment communities offer more flexibility with six month leases while a very few offer the 3 month term.
