The Womens Business Center :
A business incubator
for contemporary, fast-track women business owners and career
professionals.
Founded in 1989, the Womens Business Center was the first incubator in the nation
to teach entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship to women according to a development
methodology designed specifically for women.
Recognizing "There are no glass ceilings in Entrepreneurial
America." (C. Dean Kring, Director of Research, co-founder)
created the WBC to level the playing field and accelerate the
number, growth and success rate of woman owned businesses and the number of women in
executive positions. The WBC
is certified by the Texas Business
Incubator Association.
The WBC uses business development and entrepreneurial education programs pioneered
by the Entrepreneurial
Development Center Houston's first and Texas' oldest business incubator.
The WBC teaches self-sufficiency and, as a demonstration of capability, is entirely
self-sufficient. No public funds, grants, contributions or donations are sought or
accepted.
The WBC has always been financially independent.
The WBC provides the resources, methodology and educational environment to
accelerate the business growth of emerging business owners and the career development of
professional women.
Development programs are self-paced, easy to apply to real life situations and directly
applicable to individual requirements. Fees are sliding scale and very affordable.
The development methodology,
the Entrepreneurial
Development Program is uniquely tailored, case-by-case, to the specific personal
resources, attributes and aptitude of clients to address the aspects of marketing,
operations, administration and finance of the business and/or the advancement of the
career.
For business owners, comprehensive assistance in the business plan, marketing strategy and personal selling skills
is included.
For career professionals, a career strategy is designed, based on individual personality
factors, skill sets and career objectives
The WBC provides answers for business growth from pre-startup entrepreneurs-to-be
to business owners with many years of business operations and from entry level career
professionals to senior executives in both public and private sector.
Development methodologies include advisory
boards, mentors and a professional development
coach. (We are the first in the nation to provide a "professional development
coach" to incubator clients.)
The Womens Business Center was co-founded by Sandra L. White, CFP, CPS, partner in Green/White Financial Advisors, a
graduate of the Entrepreneurial Development Program, Chairman Emeritus of the Womens
Business Center Advisory Board, Past Chairman of the Women's Chamber of Commerce of
Texas, Past Chairman of Services Cooperative
Association, and recipient of the 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997 awards for
