Services Cooperative Association (SCA) is a
not-for-profit cooperative association of independent businesses created from a research
project on small business development by the Houston
Chamber of Commerce in the late 70's to early 80's. To date SCA has worked with more than 45,000 companies,
Entrepreneurial Development Center, Houston's first business incubator (which became
Texas' oldest), founded the first Womens Business Incubator
in the United States and the first Virtual Business
Center incubator in the world. SCA's incubator clients have won
virtually every award for business growth in Houston, some nationally and some even
internationally. SCA is totally self-sufficient and operates entirely without grants,
gifts, donations, contributions or public funding and is an advocate that
government funding not be used to compete with private sector in economic development
